Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were contacted by Greater Manchester Police about a male who had sustained a knee injury in the Dovestones area.

Once contact was made with the injured person, the team ascertained that they were somewhere on the track leading up to Chew Reservoir in Saddleworth.

Thirteen team members and vehicles were soon on their way.

The track up to the reservoir was still covered in snow from the previous weeks’ downfall, but the team's 4x4 vehicles made their way up as far as possible.

From there, team members carried all the equipment further up the track where they found the injured person.

They were quickly wrapped in a blanket, the injury assessed, and they were placed on the team's stretcher.

Due to the snow on the ground, the team were able to sledge the stretcher back to the vehicles.

A short drive later they were off the hill and handed the patient over to North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust for the onward journey to hospital.

The team were involved for two-and-a-half hours.
