Oldham Active’s Saddleworth Pool and Leisure Centre has reopened following a £250,000 transformation of its gym and exercise facilities.
Oldham Active (Oldham Community Leisure), the charitable trust operating the borough's leisure facilities, has upgraded the wellbeing centre with a full suite of brand new cardio and strength training equipment from leading fitness manufacturer, Technogym, which will provide customers with an exceptional workout experience, underpinned by technology and innovation.
The Saddleworth gym has been revitalised with an expanded strength area, upgraded flooring, vibrant LED mood lighting, and Oldham Active branded décor throughout, creating an exciting and modern environment.
The group exercise studio has also recently undergone a complete makeover, including a refurbished sprung floor, high-tech variable mood LED lighting, and updated décor.
This major refurbishment, which was carried out in stages to minimise disruption to customers, builds on Oldham Active’s £750,000 investment in the borough’s other leisure centres last year and will elevate the overall experience for customers.
Councillor Barbara Brownridge, Cabinet Member for Adults, Health and Wellbeing, said: “I'm delighted to see this fantastic refurbishment complete so Oldham residents can start to access the state-of-the-art equipment on offer.
"Leading active, healthy lives is so important and having a place in your community which can help with that is vital.
"The best time to start exercising is right now so I encourage everyone to give it a go and see what works for them.”
Alison Jennings, Saddleworth Centre Manager, said: “We are already welcoming our customers back to the new look gym and studio, which feels welcoming and contemporary.
"Saddleworth Pool and Leisure Centre offers wellness opportunities for all the community, whatever your age, ability, size or interest.”
Stuart Lockwood, Oldham Active Chief Executive, added: “As a charitable organisation, our goal is to inspire people to lead active and healthy lives.
"To achieve this, we need welcoming, high quality facilities equipped with excellent equipment and expert staff.
"Putting our customers first is at the heart of every decision we make, and this significant refurbishment reflects our ongoing commitment to reinvesting every penny we earn back into supporting the local community.
"We hope customers will enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of this facility for years to come.”
