A luxurious glamping site at the foot of the Peak District is due to open a new restaurant and cafe.
Hollowoaks Limited, who own Dovestone Holiday Park in Saddleworth, want to transform Greenfield Farm into an eatery, shop and leisure space.
The two-storey house with a traditional slate roof is on a plot of land adjacent to the holiday park off Chew Valley Road, which is home to a number of ‘luxury spa lodges and glamping pods’.
A planning application granted by Oldham Council will see the ex-farmhouse refurbished into a mixed-use business on the ground floor, with dining space, a games room, kitchen, storage and bathroom areas.
Meanwhile, the second floor will be turned into a two-bed apartment for the holiday park’s managers.
The plans for the flat include an open plan kitchen-living-dining area, bathroom, and an office, alongside two dedicated car parking spaces for staff.
The eatery and leisure space would be open from 10am to 10pm and have a view onto the mountains and woods around Dovestone Reservoir.
The building is also just a stone’s throw away from Uppermill and Greenfield and popular hiking sites like the Trinnacle, but would likely only be available for use by guests to the holiday park.
The developers claimed the decision to open the restaurant was a direct response to ‘customer feedback’, providing ‘much needed amenities’.
Hollowoaks also suggested the project would create ‘additional job opportunities’ for the surrounding area.
The application received zero objections and was approved by a planning officer Matthew Taylor.
In a report, Taylor suggested the development ‘would bring into use a vacant building’ and create ‘economic and environmental benefits given that the building would accommodate employment-generating uses and would help secure the maintenance of the building thus assisting in it contributing to the character and appearance of the area’.
