It proved a great night to bring the Mountain Rescue team and its extended family together
Oldham Mountain Team celebrated its 60th anniversary with team members past and present, their families and distinguished guests.
They included the Vice Lord Lieutenant for Greater Manchester, Sharman Birtles, local hero solo Atlantic rower Frank Rothwell and some founding team members.
It was a great night to bring the Mountain Rescue and extended family together to celebrate this milestone and volunteers took the opportunity to present some team members with long service awards and the Kings Coronation medal for service.
Among other long service awards, Katie Johnson received her award for 25 years; Dr. Andy Taylor received his long service award for 50 years and the Teams President Peter Hyde received his 60 years long service award.
After 60 years, there are far to many people to thank in full, but the team saluted Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team for being on call (and allowing Oldham a rare night off!}.
A spokesperson added: "Thanks to all our supporters for your continued vital support; but most of all, thank you to to our team members' families, those people that have to pick up the pieces when the team disappear at odd times of the day."
