Greater Manchester Police officers are appealing for information following a serious collision in neighbouring Middleton.

Yesterday (Wednesday) officers were called to reports of a Toyota Prius colliding with a pedestrian on Burton Road.

The pedestrian – a woman in his 70s – sustained serious life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital for treatment.

A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention and remains in custody.

They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage, from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 4741 quoting log number 1188 of 02/10/2024.

Alternatively, details can be shared on GMP's LiveChat function on the website, www.gmp.police.uk, or via the independent charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
