Oldhamer Mustafa receives an Honorary Doctorate degree

Oldham man Mustafa Ahmed Mustak has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Community Development and Public Service by the American University of Business and Social Sciences, in collaboration with the International Association for Quality Assurance in Pre-Tertiary and Higher Education (QAHE).

This prestigious accolade recognizes Mustafa's profound and transformative impact on community development, public service, and social cohesion over his impressive 30-year career.

Mustafa has dedicated his life to serving various community sectors, fostering collaboration and unity among diverse groups.

His efforts have been widely recognized not just in the UK, but also internationally.

Throughout his career, he has actively engaged with local residents, advocating for their concerns to relevant authorities, and ensuring the delivery of quality public services.

Mustafa emphasizes the importance of building strong community networks based on mutual trust and respect for diversity.

He believes that fostering a sense of belonging is crucial for a safe and thriving community.

He plays a vital role in promoting clean, green, and safe environments by leading community initiatives that encourage local participation in litter picking and waste management.

Mustafa is also passionate about tackling issues such as domestic violence and loneliness, particularly among older adults. He has developed health and well-being services aimed at aiding those at risk of emotional or mental health challenges.

Also committed to enhancing educational opportunities, he works tirelessly to assist young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring they receive the support needed to succeed academically.

Through regular surgeries and community meetings, Mustafa also addresses various local issues, ranging from benefits to anti-social behaviour, fostering a proactive community atmosphere.

Mustafa is Director at Action Together, Executive Director and Trainer at Tigers International Association (TIA) and a Founder Director of Hyde Credit Union.

He has also authored several publications, including “Bangladeshis in Great Britain”, and has been involved in various community projects that celebrate the rich heritage and contributions of Bangladeshi people in the UK.
