The Yeds Group sponsored walk was held last Sunday
The Oldham RLFC supporters group - the Yeds - organised a special sponsored walk in a bid to raise money for the MND Association.
The sponsored walk was held last Sunday and was organised in memory of the much-loved rugby league hero, Rob Burrow, who sadly died of Motor Neurone Disease recently.
All funds raised will be donated to the MND Association, and that total currently stands at well over £10,000.
Over 200 Oldham fans walked from Boundary Park to the Crown Oil Arena in Rochdale, a distance of approximately 6.5 miles.
Fans were joined by ORLFC Chairman Bill Quinn, Mike Ford and other staff members from the Roughyeds.
Fans then enjoyed the local derby game - Rochdale v Oldham - which saw Oldham come away with a win to see they remain top of the League 1.
As well as the sponsorship monies raised, money was also raised through a number of auctions / raffles for various sporting items / memorabilia, including a signed Leeds Rhinos shirts which bared the name 'Burrow 7' on the back.
Celebrations following the game were held at the Fox and Pine pub in Oldham and that is where the auction was held.
Michael Bradshaw kindly led the auction.
Several children took part in the walk, many from local rugby club Saddleworth Rangers.
They carried buckets for donations throughout the walk and were all truly amazing.
Over £10k has been raised to date, with monies still to come in from sponsorship, and the bucket collections are yet to be counted and included.
The link to the JustGiving page is here, if you're able to add a donation.
Jamie Hollingworth and Dave Thomas were the main organisers for this fantastic event, and they were supported by Dave Murgatroyd, Nicola Robinson, Michelle and Chris Riley from the Fox and Pine, as well as many other dedicated fans.
A spokesperson said: "Seeing all these fans come together for such an amazing cause was absolutely fantastic."
