The We are Community event brought together a diverse array of attendees, reflecting Oldham's rich community tapestry
An Oldham community group, We Are Community, organised a memorable Eid celebration and charity evening in aid of Dr Kershaw's Hospice at the newly-modernised Eastern Pavilion Hall in Westwood.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Oldham, Cllr Zahid Chauhan OBE, who delivered an emotional speech about his wife and the compassionate and support they received from Dr Kershaw's.
The event brought together a diverse array of attendees, reflecting Oldham's rich community tapestry.
It was a heartening demonstration of unity and mutual support, setting a positive tone for the future.
The evening also celebrated several hardworking and inspirational individuals who contribute selflessly to their fields without seeking recognition.
Honorees included Kana Josee Bizimana from Girls with Pride and Dignity, Adeel Saleem from the Eastern Pavilion, Abdul Nashir Wahab, Chair of GMBA, Munsur Ali, councilman and filmmaker from the City of London Corporation, and Matt Ramsbottom for his steadfast work in the media and saving the Oldham Chronicle.
The event successfully raised funds for Dr Kershaw's Hospice, highlighting the community's collective spirit and generosity.
As Amin Babor Chowdhury aptly stated: "It is important that we come together as a community to make a difference."
