A scene from one of Sunday's rescue dramas
Sunday was a hectic day for Oldham Mountain Rescue Team.
At 3pm, they were contacted by Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust regarding reports of a person falling from Dean Rocks above Dovestones reservoir at Greenfield.
The casualty was located by North West Air Ambulance Charity and they had paramedics on the scene quickly to give first aid.
Team members made their way up from the top of Ashway Sluice with a stretcher and a vacuum mattress together with kit for extracting the casualty from the hillside.
It quickly became clear the casualty required winching from the steep ground they were on.
A helicopter from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency was requested and neighbouring team, Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team, were requested to assist.
The casualty was immobilised in a vacuum mattress and then placed on a stretcher ready for winching.
Once the Coastguard were on scene, they assessed the situation before winching the casualty and flying directly to hospital.
Thirteen members from Oldham MRT, 16 members from Holme Valley MRT and one from Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team were involved for three hours.
Not long after the vehicles and equipment had been tidied away, OMRT received another call from North West Ambulance Service about a person who wasn’t feeling very well above Greenfield Reservoir at Birchin Clough.
The team deployed in one of its Land Rovers to the scene where the person was quickly located.
They were able to walk the casualty down to their vehicle where the person was assessed before being taken back to the car park and picked up by a relative.
Twelve team members were involved for one hour.
