Funeral Director Ben McCutcheon presents a cheque to the Mossley Town Team
Charities and other worthy projects which help people in Mossley and the surrounding areas can once again apply for grants from a local funeral directors to help continue their outstanding work.
The Elizabeth Way and Company Community Assistance Programme has reopened for applications and is ready to award small grants of up to £300 to eligible organisations in their local community.
Projects taking place within three miles of their funeral home in Stamford Street, Mossley are eligible, and the team want to support causes led by people who have a clear understanding of community issues and that address the needs of the area’s most disadvantaged people.
Earlier this year, the programme supported the Mossley Town Team by awarding money for a brass band to play during the annual Whit Walk, held at the end of May.
Funeral Director Ben McCuthcheon said: “It was great to be able to support the Whit Walk and it was a fantastic opportunity to meet people in the community and talk about what a great place Mossley is to live.
“We want to hear from more groups and projects this time around.
“There are so many great things happening in Mossley and we want to help those continue, or assist with kicking-off a brand-new idea which might help people.
“We also want to develop relationships with these charities and causes so we can support them again and again through our community work, build up relationships and break down barriers some people may still hold around funeral directors.
“If you are involved with a scheme that could benefit, or want more information, then please do get in touch.”
The fund is open for applications now and will close on July 1.
Another round of funding is due to open in September, 2024.
