Homelessness charity Emmaus Mossley hosted a special evening event to showcase affordable and more sustainable alternatives to fast fashion.
More than 150 guests attended the Emmaus Sustainable Fashion Show and Sale at the Emmaus Mossley second-hand superstore.
The charity event included a catwalk parade of quality pre-loved garments with local models showcasing a range of outfits for different occasions.
Catwalk models aged between two and 77 included local Emmaus supporters, volunteers, staff and companions – people supported by the charity.
Each model paraded a range of clothing and accessories, many of which were purchased by guests in the evening sale that followed.
Niall, a catwalk model and one of 26 people supported at Emmaus Mossley, said: “I was trying to get out of being a model but as time grew on, I was looking forward to the event.
"Taking part in the catwalk show was great – the atmosphere was great, the people were great and it was just a fun night.
"The Hugo Boss suit I wore looked the part and it felt like I was on an episode of Miami Vice!”
Emmaus Mossley supports people who have experienced homelessness by providing them with a home, companionship, tailored support and work opportunities.
All proceeds from entrance tickets and items sold at the charity event will go to the support offered to people who live within Emmaus Mossley’s community.
Eleanor, one of the volunteer catwalk models, said: “I always love the range of clothes at Emmaus and prefer to buy second-hand items from charity shops where possible.
"Showcasing the different outfits on the catwalk with the other models was a great experience and I hope the show inspired all who attended.”
The event took place at the charity’s large second-hand superstore which sells a wide variety of furniture, homewares, fashion, bric-a-brac, books, music, vintage and upcycled items.
The remaining clothing items, shoes and accessories from the event will continue to be displayed and available for sale for the next few weeks.
Hazel Hodkinson, Retail Manager at Emmaus Mossley, said: “It was great to welcome guests of all ages and for them to see the range and quality of fashion available from our second-hand superstore.
"Our stylish catwalk models put on a great show and I’m very grateful to everyone who took part, volunteered and helped in the run up to this year’s Emmaus Mossley Fashion Show.”
