A kind-hearted unique coffee bar owner has raised triple the amount envisaged for two very worthy causes thanks to an organised ‘horseshoe’ walk.

Sue Toone, owner of the Cavallo Coffee Box at Castleshaw Valley, chose Oldham Mountain Rescue Team and North West Air Ambulance as recipient charities because her coffee kiosk is for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

She said: “The eight mile walk raised £1,500, which will be split between the two organisations.

"We were lucky to get a fabulous day for it.

"We’re hoping to do a second, easier sponsored walk in September.

“The participants came for coffee and croissants at the cafe before leaving.

"At the top of Broadhead Noddle they got water and snacks, then they got an afternoon tea at Cavallo’s when they got back.

“We wanted to make it an experience as well as a fund raiser, which is why we did the afternoon tea at the end, and coffee and croissants on arrival.

"There was a lovely bunch of people there - the youngest was 15 and the eldest 80.”
