Chadderton gunshot incident - third man charged

A third man has been charged with attempted murder after a gunshot incident on Busk Road in Chadderton.

McCauley Brooker (aged 23) of Southway, Eccles, has been charged with attempted murder and Section 16A Firearms Act 1968.

He has been remanded and was set to appear at Manchester Magistrates Court today (Friday).

The charges relate to an incident which occurred on Busk Road on Wednesday, May 22, at around 8pm when patrols were called to Royal Oldham Hospital Accident and Emergency as well as to Busk Road, following a man presenting himself with gunshot wounds and another receiving serious knife wounds at the scene.

Two men aged 22 and 32 have been released on police bail.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis, from GMP's Major Incident Team, said: “We have made significant progress in this investigation.

"Seven arrests have been made so far with three men being charged and remanded.

"All three have been charged with attempted murder and one also charged with Section 16A Firearms Act 1968.

“This investigation is fast-paced and we are exploring a several lines of enquiries, including information that has been passed to us following our public appeals.

“We are still appealing to anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101 quoting log number 3740 22/05/2024.

“Alternatively, details can be passed on anonymously to the independent charity - Crimestoppers - on 0800 555 111.”
