Smiles all round as Redrow has new Fir Bank reading hut covered

Date published: 22 May 2024

Primary school pupils in Oldham have a new outdoor reading shed thanks to a donation from a homebuilder’s community fund.

Fir Bank Primary School successfully applied for £600 from Redrow’s Oldham Community Fund, linked to the developer’s Bishop Meadows venture in Cowlishaw.

“Reading is a big focus for our school, and children being able to access books during their outdoor play is a huge benefit,” said Mrs McLaughlin, headteacher at Fir Bank Primary School.

“The shed is already being put to good use by our pupils who are enjoying spending time outdoors with a book.”

Steve Jackson, sales director at Redrow Lancashire, said: “Our community funds provide financial support to the communities we build in.

"I’m very pleased to see the new reading shed is now open and being enjoyed by pupils at Fir Bank.”

Redrow’s 25-acre Bishop Meadows development will include more than 200 homes from Redrow’s Arts and Crafts inspired Heritage Collection, in a range of three to five-bedroom designs.

The development will also include five acres of green space and its own orchard.
