Police appeal for information following fatal road traffic collision on Ripponden Road

Police and fire crews were called to a collision involving a motorcyclist and a pedestrian at about 4pm on Saturday
Greater Manchester Police officers are now appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision in Oldham over the weekend.
At around 4pm on Saturday afternoon, police were called to a road traffic collision between a motorcycle and a pedestrian on Rippondon Road.
Upon arriving at the scene alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service, police found two men in a critical condition.
It has been established that a motorcycle had collided with an elderly pedestrian as he crossed the road.
Sadly the pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other man, the rider of the motorcycle who is in his 20s, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains.
GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
