Almost 200 homes in Oldham could experience power cuts this week, power company Electricity North West has warned.
Houses and businesses in Saddleworth, Royton and Chadderton may see their electricity supply interrupted during the day for planned improvement works on the local network.
Electricity North West confirmed that around 60 homes in Saddleworth will experience the “planned power cut” today (Monday).
The disruption will allow engineers to “safely work on the cables that provide electricity” to homes and businesses in the area.
They are aiming to complete most works by 1pm and the last homes will come back onto the network before 5pm.
The firm apologised for the interruption in a statement online, which said: “We appreciate your patience while our engineers carry out a planned power cut in your area, this is to improve the reliability of your electricity supply.”
The postcodes affected today are OL3 6BA, OL3 6AP, OL3 6BD, OL3 6BF, OL3 6AZ, OL3 6BB and OL3 6AY.
On Friday (May 3), up to 104 homes will experience power cuts in Chadderton North and 29 homes in Royton.
The Chadderton North postcodes are: OL9 0NA, OL9 0NE, OL9 0LY, OL9 0NF, OL9 0NX, OL9 0LZ, OL9 0LF, OL9 0J and OL9 0QL.
The postcodes who’ll see their electricity cut in Royton are: OL2 5UX and OL2 5UY.
Those due to be affected should have received a card in the post warning them that they will be temporarily disconnected.
Some may also receive a text message the day before.
