Pennine Mencap is putting the ‘FUN’ into fundraising with fifth charity comedy night

Pennine Mencap, a leading Oldham charity dedicated to supporting individuals with learning disabilities and their families/carers, has announced details of its fifth charity comedy night.

The event is taking place on Saturday week, April 6, and features four of the country’s most exciting, up-and-coming stand-up comedians.

The event is being organised in conjunction with Colin Manford’s Plane Comedy, with the night hosted by Colin himself.

The venue will be none other than the place that describes itself as ‘the real Phoenix Nights’ - the legendary Royton Band Club.

Pennine Mencap is a charitable organisation committed to improving the lives of individuals with learning disabilities and autism.

The organization provides a range of services and support to create a more inclusive and empowered local community.

The stand-up comedy night is designed to raise vital funds for the charity, by bringing service users, the Royton community and comedy fans together for a night of laughs.

The night is sure to be fun-filled, and with four fantastic comedians performing,

The charity is expecting to leave the crowd with split sides and wide smiles.

Fundraisers like this are vital to sustaining the charity, and previous fundraisers have been key in funding events, holidays for service users, vital repairs to their premises and much of the key work done at Pennine Mencap.

This fundraising comedy night is set to be a night of non-stop hilarity, with fantastic comedic performances, and a fundraising raffle with prizes including Latics tickets and a beer hamper from local brewery JW Lees.

The comedic line-up includes comedian, presenter and actor Colin Manford.

An accomplished standup who has torn the roof off of gigs up and down the UK, as well as performances in the Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovenia, Malta and Romania.

His writing credits include “8 Out of 10 Cats” and “Walk on the Wild Side”.

When asked about the night, Manford said: “I am very excited to be a part of what will be such a great night raising funds for an amazing charity.”

Comedian, podcaster, author and ex-pro wrestler Lee Kyle (above) is on the bill.

He is a comedic chameleon who does everything from traditional stand-up gags through to his ‘The Footbaaall Show’ YouTube, Lee Kyle is a jack of all comedic trades.

He has been described by the BBC as a "top up-and-coming comedy performer".

Standup comedian Dominic Hattan Woods is a son of the city, and the Mancunian comic is a regular at comedy clubs with his dry and sarcastic humour.

Dom has more than 10 million views online for his comedy videos, and his Rent Boys/ Daddy Issues Podcast is a hit online.

Comedian and musician Vince Atta is one of the leading lights in musical comedy too.

His technique of creating live on-the-spot hip-hop/reggae/techno, which he infuses with atural stand-up, storytelling and audience interaction.

He’s an award winning act, sure to leave Royton in stitches.

"I’ve seen comedians in all kinds of venues over the years and being able to put on our own comedy nights is always a dream come true.
