OMRT's Adam Knight receives the £1,800 cheque from Clint Elliott, vice president of Saddleworth Rotary Club
Saddleworth Rotary Club sprang into action when they heard Oldham Mountain Team needed new safety equipment.
The club made a £1,800 donation to the Team to cover the bulk of the cost of providing essential equipment, including carabiners and webbing to each member of the team.
Over the years there has been a close association between Saddleworth Rotary Club and the volunteer mountain rescue team.
It is an essential service and recognised as a life-saving group of local men and women who depend on charitable donations to provide the level of emergency service required.
Clint Elliott, Vice President of Saddleworth Rotary, is pictured with some of the new equipment presenting the cheque to Adam Knight, a section leader and longstanding member of Oldham Mountain Rescue Team.
Receiving the cheque, Mr Knight explained how essential the new equipment was to the team and how it could help save lives and thanked the Rotary Club for the donation.
Mr Elliott said: "Saddleworth Rotary Club members recognise the commitment of volunteers to an organisation that provides an essential frontline rescue service and were happy to help provide the safety equipment needed.”
And he expressed the hope once again the Mountain Rescue team will attend the Saddleworth Show on June 30 as the public had enjoyed their presence at the show in previous years.
