Local community group, Outta Skool, a multi sports organisation serving Oldham and the surrounding areas, celebrated 15 years of service to the community with their seventh annual awards ceremony.
The organisation runs clubs in the following sports: Taekwondo, Football, Boxing, Muay Thai and Kabaddi.
Every year they bring all the clubs together to celebrate individual and team achievements.
The organisation has come a long way over the last 15 years, building from merely an idea to becoming one of the biggest providers of organized activities in Oldham.
The awards event hosted over 250 young people and their families with local councillors and sponsors.
Special guest of honour at the Werneth Suite was the Honorable Mayor of Oldham, Cllr Dr Zahid Chauhan.
Dr Chauhan said: “I had an amazing time at the Outta Skool seventh annual awards ceremony, where I had the honour of presenting awards to acknowledge the dedication of both young individuals and staff across the clubs.
"Outta Skool's activities boost confidence, cultural awareness and leadership skills in our youth.
"Since 2009, Outta Skool has been making a positive impact in our community through multi-sports and cultural activities.
"They help to create opportunities for both young people and adults to embrace a healthy, active lifestyle, excel in sports and address health inequalities.
"Thank you Outta Skool for the important work you do.
"Let's continue making a positive impact in our community together.”
Moinul Islam MBE, founder of Outta Skool, added: “We’re delighted to have reached such a big milestone.
"We want to congratulate all our athletes and parents for their hard work and commitment.
"All our coaches and volunteers for their continued support over the years.
"All the Directors and their families for the commitment they have towards Outta Skool.
"Outta Skool was set up to create opportunities and remove barriers to participation.
"We are making a difference in the lives of these young people.
"We run some of the cheapest clubs in the country with sessions costing between £1-£2, without compromising on quality.
"Our Teakwondo club is ranked in the top two clubs in the country at the nationals and our Kabaddi club plays in the British Kabaddi League which is aired live on BBC Sports and BBC iplayer."
