Punters said the Saddleworth Santa Dash, now an iconic annual event, should be celebrated as the SANTA-WORTH DASH
Thousands of happy-go-lucky families packed Uppermill high street to share the excitement of the latest spectacular fundraising Santa Dash.
And punters said the Saddleworth Santa Dash, now an iconic annual event, should be celebrated as the SANTA-WORTH DASH.
In all, 1,800 men, women and children enjoyed the massive jamboree orgsnisee by a Trojan team of community heroes from Saddleworth Round Table.
Bright sunshine and icy conditions were cast aside by the dedicated entrants who took part in an event before setting off on two routes across the village.
And Andrew Rothwell, Round Tables lead at the weekend event, said they were hoping funds raised could be a massive boost to hard-pressed organisations in need of financial support.
“We’ve had a record entry and had to close bookings three weeks before the event itself," he said.
“I’d like to thank everyone who entered the dash and our wonderful sponsors who have given so generously to make things happen.
“Every penny raised today goes to very worthy recipients and hopefully we shall be able to be even more generous this year.”
