Graham's 'amazing' day at Buckingham Palace

Graham Quinn, the CEO at the Oldham-based New Bridge Multi Academy Trust, celebrated his investiture at Buckingham Palace.

Mr Quinn received his OBE in recognition for his services to children with additional needs.

Mr Quinn, who was accompanied by his family, said: "We had the most amazing time.

"The Princess Royal awarded me the medal."

The New Bridge Multi Academy Trust supports seven schools, of which Hollinwood, New Bridge, Spring Brook and the Springboard Project are in Oldham. 

The wider New Bridge Group also manages Horizons and Future Finders, organisations that provide local community pathways for adults.

Four Oldhamers feature in King Charles III's first official birthday honours list which was announced in June, celebrating the incredible public service of people across the country.

Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) employee Idris Ali was recognised.

A long-standing civil servant of 22 years, Idris was awarded a BEM - a British Empire Medal - for his dedication to volunteering in the community.

Mercy Lusungu Shibemba, a speaker and campaigner, received an MBE for her services to people with HIV.

Last but certainly not least, Oyovwe Sagbodje Kigho, the founder and chief executive officer of the Widows Empowerment Trust, received a BEM for services to bereaved people in Manchester.
