Curiouser and Curiouser - check out the new version of Alice by Saddleworth Players

Date published: 16 November 2023

Saddleworth Players' production of a new version of Alice by Laura Wade breathes fresh life into a much-loved story about rabbit holes, pocket watches and talking caterpillars.

Kira Richardson takes the role of Alice in Laura Wade's new take on an old classic, where Alice is a young girl with a vivid imagination and a family life that's less than perfect.

Follow Alice as she escapes her Sheffield life to follow the White Rabbit into a journey of discovery in the topsy-turvy world of Wonderland.

But there are many characters in Wonderland and many wonderful costumes....

The White Rabbit is late for the Duchess, The Cheshire Cat won't stop grinning, The Hatter is mad, and having tea with the Dormouse and Hare ... the Mock Turtle and Gryphin and dancing, Humpty Dumpty is on the wall, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are singing a song and the Queen of Hearts has lost her tarts and shouting 'Off with their heads' as well as Wonderlanders from 1973 (the first show at Millgate) and 2023 (SPY youth theatre).

Wonderland and all the characters are brought to life at the Millgate Arts Centre with a vibrant set and costumes, with an original score, arranged by local musician Ian Ball and a cast of many.

The show riuns between tomorrow (Saturday, November 18) and November 25.
