Dr Kershaw’s launches its Christmas tree collection appeal

Date published: 15 November 2023

This Christmas, Dr Kershaw’s is bringing back its popular Christmas tree collection service, to support the local community with their Christmas tree disposals, as well as supporting the care of their patients and loved ones.

With Christmas just over a month away, you can get your Christmas tree collection slot booked in with the Hospice from today to guarantee your slot, with a minimum donation of £10.

The Hospice’s Christmas tree collections will take place 12 days after Christmas, January 6-8, 2024, from the following Oldham postcodes: OL1, OL2, OL3, OL4, OL8, OL9 and M35.

Jill Kirkham, Community and Partnerships Lead at Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, said: “I am thrilled we are bringing back our Christmas tree collections.

"A lot of people enjoy a natural tree, but struggle with the disposal of it after Christmas.

"This year, you don’t need to worry about the mess in your car or trying to cut up your tree to put it in your bin, as we will collect and recycle your Christmas tree for you, with every tree collection donation supporting the continued care of our patients across the community.

"We are very grateful to everyone who supports this initiative as well as to Life for a Life Memorial Forests, Willmow Reclamation and Salvage Ltd and Sharp who are very kindly supporting our Christmas tree collection.”

Once you have made a donation towards your tree collection, the Hospice will contact you when their route maps have been completed.

You will then receive an email or telephone call informing you of when the collection will take place.

Jill added: “Another plus is that arranging a Christmas tree collection with us is eco-friendly.

"Every tree we collect is recycled into mulch to be used in gardens and public spaces throughout the Oldham community.”
