Roxie and her husband proudly show off their Care Innovator award
A local business team, Visiting Angels, was recognised by winning the Care Innovator Award category at the prestigious Great British Care Awards for the North West region.
Managing Director Roxie Taj, who runs the Oldham-based business alongside her husband, was on hand to receive the award at a plush ceremony in Manchester, and was understandably delighted.
Roxie said: "Imagine my surprise and joy to be chosen as one of the competing finalists at the awards ceremony at Manchester Kimpton Clock Tower Hotel.
"After a previous in-depth interview by an experienced panel judge prior to the big day, I waited for the evening to arrive…and then I won!
"I am proud to represent the Care Innovator category because it perfectly reflects my efforts since the start-up of my company last year, underpinned by an innovative carer-centric model which fuels multiple benefits to our staff and users of our service.
"I didn’t think I could win an award because like many deserving people who are the unsung heroes of the social care sector, we do what we do because we are passionate about changing the perception and delivery of quality care in the community.
"I truly hope that my journey will be inspirational to others reading this article because there are no heroes in this sector, together we are heroic in serving our community with quality care.
"This award is for all of us!
"And if you have a fully supportive partner, friend, and confidante like my husband…. it’s just the icing on the cake!"
