Community champions Saddleworth Round Table have launched a unique scheme linked to their fabled Santa Dash.
They have added a generous touch of Christmas tinsel, giving local clubs needing funding to enter a team for the popular event.
And the idea has turned into a runaway success, with SEVEN clubs partnering with the Round Table.
Currently, this means Round Table have sold 514 tickets to the clubs and pledged £2,604 to the partner organisations.
The clubs benefitting from the partnership are Saddleworth 3Ds, Friends of Holy Trinity Dobcross School, Uppermill FC, Ricky Casey Trust, Saddleworth FC, Friezland School PTAs, and Oldham Women’s Hockey.
The success of partnering with local clubs have combined with traditional ticket sales via the Eventbrite link for the sparkling event on Saturday, December 2.
Andy Rothwell, from Saddleworth Round Table, said: "We have been really impressed with the amount of goodwill and support in the community for the Santa Dash.
"And, with the club initiative and general sales, the event is well set to be the best Santa Dash we have ever put on and a day to remember.
“Early supporters of the event and our main sponsors, Greene’s Bistro and Robert Scott’s, really do help get the event up and running to maximise how big the event can be and what we can give back to the community.
“It's likely that wave two tickets will sell out in the coming days leaving the final 300 tickets sold at wave three prices of £20 for adults and £6 for children.”
He urged: "If you want to participate don’t delay as when the tickets are gone, they are gone!”
This year the event will be held on the King George V Park and car park in central Uppermill.
It will kick off from midday with market stalls and refreshments in the park to supplement the pre dash build-up, with Elliot Eastwick co-ordinating a packed on-stage line up.
