Police issue appeal after toy thieves assault elderly lady

The group of youths assaulted an elderly lady by pushing her to the ground
Police officers have issued an appeal following the assault of an elderly lady and theft in Shaw.
On Saturday, September 23, at approximately 12:30pm, a group of five youths entered the Asda Supermarket on Greenfield Lane in Shaw, and stole a large quantity of toys.
On leaving the store, the group also assaulted an elderly lady by pushing her to the ground.
The offenders have been described as three males wearing black coats and dark trousers – two of whom were wearing hats and one who had longer dark hair and a fur hood.
The fourth male was mixed race and wore a brown coat with his hood up and dark trousers.
The fifth male had yellow/blonde hair and was wearing a blue coat and light trousers
PC Winstanley of the Initial Investigation Unit said: “This was a nasty assault on a woman who was simply doing her weekly shopping and was walking home.
"She was injured and has been left incredibly shaken up by the incident.
“We are treating the assault and theft as linked and are appealing to the public for information."
