The community-focused Saddleworth Show Committee are fortunate to have a good working relationship with the local Saddleworth and Lees Neighbourhood Policing Team.
And, in recognition of this, the Committee donated £200 to a charity nominated by the kind-hearted local policing team.
The PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund, the nominated charity, founded by her father Bryn Hughes, is based in Saddleworth and works with young people under the age of 21 who have suffered the loss of a relative through violent crime.
Neighbourhood Team Sergeant Connor Brook said the charity was chosen as a tribute to and in honour of colleagues who have tragically lost their lives in the line of duty.
Bryn Hughes thanked the Saddleworth Show Committee for the donation and the police team for nominating the charity, adding that he already had an idea where the money could be spent on supporting a young person who had only recently suffered the violent loss of a parent.
The Wellifest Music and Saddleworth Show are sponsored by the local Rotary Clubs of Saddleworth and Oldham Metro and organised by the Saddleworth Show Committee.
Amongst the key factors effecting events on the day is the co-operation of the local police.
Wellifest and the Saddleworth Show are annual events and arrangements for next year’s events on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30 respectively are already progressing.
