Oldham East and Saddleworth MP Debbie Abrahams has praised the Labour Party’s Annual Conference as ‘transformational’.
The Conference took place in Liverpool between October 8 and 11.
Ms Abrahams spoke at several fringe events, including on ‘Labour’s vision for health equity’ ‘How to create a truly accessible healthcare system’ and ‘How will Labour’s proposed Ethics and Integrity Commission work?’
At each of the fringe events, Ms Abrahams outlined her significant policy work in these areas in Parliament.
The Conference also saw Labour leader Keir Starmer speak to the country to say “If you are a Conservative voter who despairs of this, if you look in horror at the descent of your party into the murky waters of populism and conspiracy, with no argument for economic change; if you feel our children need a party that conserves, that fights for our union, our environment, the rule of law, family life, the careful bond between this generation and the next – then let me tell you, Britain already has one. And you can join it – it’s this Labour party.”
Ms Abrahams said: “This year’s Conference was unlike any other I’ve attended – it was full of optimism and hope. It was a truly transformational moment.
“Across the fringe events I spoke at, I could sense the strong appetite for action on the inequalities that still hold people back in Oldham, Saddleworth and beyond.
"From inequalities in health to power, we heard some great ideas about what needs to be done, and commitments to do this.
“Likewise, Keir Starmer’s speech was fantastic.
"It wasn’t just what he said about saving our NHS, giving power back to communities like ours and cleaning up our politics, but his promise of leadership with honour and integrity.
"He proved beyond doubt why the country needs him in Number 10.”
