Exciting new partnership between Oldham podcast company and radio station

KUPOD - Oldham’s only dedicated podcast production company - have announced two new shows on Oldham Community Radio 99.7fm (OCR).

The partnership comes thanks to KUPOD founder Matt Dean and OCR’s Ian Wolstenholme sharing a passion for all things audio and all things Oldham.

A Look At Latics brings together some of the highlights of two existing KUPOD shows - the award-winning Boundary Park Alert System! Podcast and the YouTube live stream, The Latics Football Phone In.

Matt hosts and produces both shows for KUPOD alongside Andy Halliwell and Dave Bradley.

Matt said: “I was chatting with Ian about how it would be great if there were a show about Latics on the station.

"I thought it would be great to make a third show for OCR from the content we’re already creating, along with a little extra input from myself and Dave, so that we might reach an audience that doesn’t currently have access to our shows.”

The Boundary Park Alert System! Podcast, which won Fan Media Channel or Podcast of the Year 2022 at the North West Football Awards and is currently shortlisted for Best Podcast in Non-League at the national Football Content Awards, was credited by Latics co-owner Luke Rothwell as a vital resource during the due diligence and purchase process.

“We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved in just three years,” added Matt.

"It just goes to show how powerful podcasts can be, they can help foster a community, educate and inspire and are also a lot of fun to produce.

"Basically it’s mates chatting about football and I think that comes across in the show in that it’s very easy to listen to.”

The Podcast Show with Matt and Mo is a brand new show produced especially for OCR and as a KUPOD podcast.

The premise of the show is that it will explore the world of podcasting and DIY broadcasting, look for local content creators to promote and to inspire those who would like to try it for themselves.

The Podcast Show is hosted and produced by Matt and Mohamed Mafouz.

Egyptian born and new to Oldham, Mo met Matt when Matt was giving a talk on podcasts at Oldham Library.

The two discussed their shared passion for producing audio and a professional relationship quickly followed.

“I am very excited about this show,” said Mo.

"It is a great opportunity to share my skills and experience and to learn lots more.

"Matt and I share a passion to inspire others to create their own content because anyone can do it, just like we do.

"We are both looking forward to discovering who else in Oldham shares our passion, so we can invite them on the show and help them reach a bigger audience.”

A Look At Latics airs on Saturday mornings, 10-11am, on OCR 99.7fm.

The Podcast Show with Matt and Mo airs on Mondays, 1-2pm ,on OCR 99.7fm.
