At around lunchtime yesterday (Wednesday), Oldham Mountain Rescue Team received a request from the neighbouring team at Glossop, asking for assistance with an incident involving a casualty at Laddow Rocks at Greenfield, which lies on the border of both areas.

The young female had suffered a fainting episode while out on a Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition.

With the Glossop team having medically assessed the casualty and commenced the stretcher carry, their Oldham counterparts rendezvoused with them to help out on the boggy route to Chew Reservoir.

From there, she was checked over by Oldham's Team Doctor before being handed over to the group leader for onward transport.

Said OMRT leader Rob Tortoiseshell: ”Well done to the DoE group, who did all the right things when asking for assistance, and best wishes to the casualty, who we hope can complete her Award when she is able.”

A total of 10 OMRT personnel were involved for just over three hours.
