Police seize drugs and cash following stop and search incident in Derker

Proactive policing efforts from local Greater Manchester officers have resulted in a drugs and cash seizure in Derker.

On Monday (September 11), at around 11:30am, officers from GMP’s Oldham district were actively patrolling the area of Derker.

Officers patrolling the area noticed a male acting suspiciously and after spotting the police patrol vehicle, the male made off from the scene.

Officers located the male which led them to a property on Whetstone Hill Lane, where two men were detained for the purposes of a stop and search.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class B drugs and assaulting a police officer.

The 20-year-old male was taken to custody for further questioning and has since been released on police bail pending further investigation.

Several items were seized from the suspect including just over £1,000 in cash and Class B drugs, of which the drugs have been destroyed.

Greater Manchester Police are determined to crack down on reports of drugs in the area, and officers will continue to act upon intelligence and will not tolerate drugs or violence in our communities.
