Saddleworth’s legendary Santa Dash is scheduled to make a spectacular, family fun-filled return on Saturday, December 2.

The charity fundraising event, which attracts up to 1,800 men, women and children, will be held on the King George V park and car park in central Uppermill beginning at midday.

And the dedicated charity volunteers from Saddleworth Round Table who are staging the event are urging competitors to book their places early.

On the day, there will market stalls and refreshments  supplemening the pre-dash build up by popular disc jockey Elliot Eastwick who is co-ordinating a packed on-stage line-up.

Then, entrants will leave thronged Uppermill, heading to Greenfield via the bridal path and back into the village for post-dash fun.

Entrants can decide on the day which of the two routes to follow.

The adventurous can opt for a 5km challenge, or youtake the easy, pram/wheelchair friendly 2km route - the choice is all yours.

Post-dash fun continues into the evening culminating in an appearance from the real Santa who will be paraded down the village High Street on a giant, colourful Rush Cart.

The first wave of Santa Dash tickets go on sale TODAY (SUNDAY) at 8pm.

Andrew Rothwell, Round Table’s Santa Dash lead, said: “The cost of staging the event has close to doubled since the organisers last increased entry costs.

“This year, we are releasing three waves of ticket sales with the first lot at last year's prices.

“Two further waves of tickets will follow, so, if you want tickets at last year’s prices, get your tickets now - before they run out."

Here is the 2023 pricing:

Wave one:  adult: £15/£6 children

Wave two: adult:£17.50/£6 children

Wave three: adult £20/£6 children.

Andrew added: “Every single penny raised at this event is donated back to YOUR community.
