It was reported a man got out of the front passenger seat of the car and pulled the woman into the car before driving away.
Thankfully, after in-depth enquiries by specialist investigators, the victim - a woman in her 20s - was found safe and well.
Detective Sergeant Jason Byrne, of GMP's Oldham CID, said: "We understand that this incident may have rightly caused some alarm in the local community, and we have been working round the clock to understand the full circumstances.
"I want to reiterate that we are investigating this as an isolated incident, and we have deployed extra resources in the area to assist with enquiries and to provide reassurance in the local area.
“Although we have located the woman and she has been found safe and well, we are still appealing for the public’s help to piece together events leading up to the incident and we are really grateful for the information passed to us already but we still need your help."
