Illicit vapes worth £30k seized in joint operation

Date published: 15 August 2023

Greater Manchester Police officers in Oldham and Trading Standards personnel have remove £30,000 worth of illicit vapes from our streets.

Officers from GMP's Oldham Neighbourhood Team and Trading Standards launched a day of action to fight back against the sale of counterfeit vapes and tobacco.

The teams visited seven shops across the borough and found that all seven had non-compliant products.

As a result, almost 3,000 non-compliant vapes, worth an estimated £28,000, and 400g of counterfeit tobacco was seized.

PC Collins, from GMP Oldham Neighbourhood Prevention Hub, said: “This seizure is a great result for GMP and partners as it means thousands of potentially dangerous products have been taken off the streets of Oldham.

“Our team are continually acting on intelligence, and I’d like to take this chance to encourage residents to report any concerns of suspected illegal activity to us so we can act.”
