Police issue witness appeal following serious sexual assault in Werneth Park

Police officers in Oldham are appealing for information after a woman was sexually assaulted in Werneth Park between 3:45am-4am yesterday morning (Thursday).
It’s believed the woman was alone before being approached by an unknown man armed with a knife.
Detectives are now appealing to the public and ask for anyone who may have been in the area around that time and witnessed something to please come forward.
Detective Constable Young, from GMP Oldham, said: “This is obviously a very distressing incident and I’d like to reassure the public that we always take reports of this nature very seriously.
"We’re following a number of lines of enquiry but we’re urging anyone with information to please come forward and share it with us.
"We are providing the victim with updates and providing her with the support she needs."
