Latics Supporters Foundation determined to expand community focus

The Oldham Athletic Supporters Foundation have raised more than £1,200 for the Oldham Foodbank and presented 10 season tickets to fans who might otherwise have struggled to attend matches.

OASF chiefs insist that they have 'changed their approach now that the club is in better hands. Going forward we'll be focused on investing in the community, investing in fans and investing in the club'.

OASF director Jim Booth said: "We sold replicas of the 1988/89 Latics shirt and shared the profits with Oldham Foodbank.

"Over 200 were sold in the one-week sale period and we raised £1,237 for Oldham Foodbank.

"We've also purchased season tickets for 10 fans who would otherwise have been unable to afford to attend matches next season.

"This started out as a competition to win a single season ticket, where the winner asked us to donate it to someone in need.

"We asked for people to nominate others who they felt deserved the help and we got so many responses from people who are struggling we felt we needed to help them all.

"We raised enough for nine tickets from our own funds, donations from other fans and the 10th ticket was gifted by the club.

"We'll be putting an expanded scheme in place for next season.

"We're looking to do more like this as part of our 'invest in the community, invest in the fans, invest in the club' mantra.

"We'd really appreciate if people could help us to deliver more by becoming an OASF member."
