Oldham Way: Overnight closures planned for later this month

Date published: 10 July 2023

Oldham Way will be closed for four nights later this month so resurfacing works can be carried out when the road is quiet.

The road will be closed in both directions on Tuesday, July 18, Wednesday 19, Thursday 20 and Sunday 23 between 8pm and 5am.

The closures will be in place from Manchester Road roundabout to Prince Street.

When the road reopens on July 24 there will also be a change in the way it crosses over onto the opposite carriageway.

West bound traffic on Oldham Way will crossover onto the east bound side, between the onslip Road to Emmott Way and return back on to the west bound carriageway after Waterloo Street.

Wellington Street and Waterloo Street will remain closed underneath Oldham Way, to all traffic until work is completed in late autumn.

This work will mean the bridges are in a good state of repair.

The council secured funding of £4.174m from the government, to pay for the scheme.

Council offficials apologise for any inconvenience and ask drivers to please continue to use other routes.
