Pair charged and witness appeal issued after Chadderton incident

Police officers are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Oldham at the weekend.
At around 1:30am on Saturday (May 28) officers were called to Cobden Street, in Chadderton, to reports of a collision between a pedestrian and an unknown vehicle.
A 31-year-man was treated at the scene for serious injuries to his legs and taken to hospital, where he remains awaiting surgery.
Meanwhile, Nikky Howarth (aged 37), of Kingston Avenue in Chadderton, has been charged with Section 18 – wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Ben Grogan (29), of Horsedge Street in Oldham, has been charged with Section 18 – wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Detective Sergeant Scott Deakin, of Oldham CID, said: “I would like to send our best wishes to the victim and wish him a speedy recovery from his injuries sustained during this incident.
“This incident will have a detrimental impact on the victim and his family unit, the victim who went to hospital will need to endure a recovery period that could last many months.
“We would like anyone with information, dash cam or CCTV footage to come forward and should do so by contacting police on 0161 856 8999 quoting log number 293 of 28/05/2023."
