Two parents of a brave toddler who is suffering from a rare form of cancer have launced a bid to raise £300,000 for treatment outside of the UK.
Sixteen-month-old Harper is the daughter of Adam Walker and Jenny Harry, who both work at Newman College in Chadderton.
Adam works in the Maths department and Jenny is on the pastoral side.
A post on Adam's Facebook page read: "It is with tremendous sadness that I bring the news that our daughter, Harper, has been diagnosed with stage 4, high-risk, Neuroblastoma.
"This is a rare and very dangerous cancer.
"She is currently undergoing treatment on the NHS which gives her a 40-50% chance of surviving five years, and if she suffers a relapse (which is more likely than not) those survival odds drop dramatically.
"WE NEED YOUR HELP.
"There is treatment available in other parts of the world which improve Harper's chances of survival significantly.
"However, they are expensive. VERY expensive.
"We need to raise £300,000 to be able to give her the best chance of living the life she deserves."
A JustGiving page has now been set up, with more than £23,000 of the £300k target reached already.
There are lots of ways you can help Harper:
1. Make a personal donation
2. Sharing and following her story on Facebook or Instagram
3. Hold a fundraising event
4. Getting sponsored to take on a challenge.
Those that join the fight will become part of Harper’s Army.
