New chairman Bill to take the helm at Credible Media

Date published: 27 April 2023

Credible Media Limited have announced the appointment of Bill Ramsbottom to lead on the construction of a formal board at the Oldham-based media company.

Mr Ramsbottom has a background in international trade, particularly in the Middle East and the United States.

More recently, he’s been involved in property development and investment both here in the UK and overseas.

The appointment of Mr Ramsbottom as chairman comes as Credible Media – owners of the Oldham Evening Chronicle – are in the final stages of launching a DAB multiplex for East Manchester along with business partners, Sunrise Radio.

In 2021, the company sold local radio station Revolution 96.2 to Bauer Media Group, owners of the ‘Hits’ brand.

The station was subsequently relaunched as Greatest Hits Radio.

Mr Ramsbottom said: “I’m delighted to join the team at Credible Media.

"Having cast my eye over the business, I’m convinced there is an exciting and prosperous future for the group.

“The current team is a huge asset, and I’m looking forward to working with other board members and the management team to restructure the company and implement a new five-year plan.

“It’s an exciting time in the world of media, with the development of small-scale DAB, the explosion of new smaller radio stations, and development of news-related digital platforms.”

Credible Media Managing Director, Matt Ramsbottom, said Bill’s experience will add focus and direction to the company.

He added: “I’m looking forward to working with Bill on the structure of the company and on the detail of our five-year plan.

“I’m convinced Credible Media will be ideally placed to react quickly to the fast-changing media market.”

Credible Media are the owners of the Oldham Evening Chronicle, business to business brand Business Edge, and two radio stations – on air and in development – Mom’s Spaghetti and MMH Radio.

They are also the primary shareholder in East Manchester DAB Limited, which is bringing digital radio to Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside in the summer.

Bill will begin his role immediately.
