'Vicious' Saddleworth attack - police issue renewed appeal for information almost two years on

Date published: 26 April 2023

Police officers have launched a new appeal for information following an incident that took place in Saddleworth on Monday, July 19, 2021.

A man was driving along Church Road at the junction with High Stile Lane in Saddleworth at around 4.30pm.

The man had to brake as another vehicle skidded towards his vehicle.

Following this, a man in the other vehicle made racial remarks towards the victim.

The vehicle then proceeded to do a U-turn and follow the victim to his driveway, where he was assaulted and had his rear window smashed with an object.

DC Michael Radcliffe, of GMP's Oldham division, said: "This renewed appeal comes after a male was interviewed recently in relation to this matter.

"This was a highly concerning and vicious incident which caused shock in the community and we will continue to work hard to bring justice for the victim of this attack."

Officers are now keen for anyone who may have any information or memory of the incident to come forward.

They have also released a photo (above) of a man that they believe could help with their enquiries.

Anyone with any information can contact police on 0161 856 4552 or 0161 856 8999, citing log number 2055 of 19/07/21.

Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
