Appeal to help trace the last steps of woman who died

Officers are appealing for help from the public in tracing the final steps of a woman who died on a railway line in Ashton.

At around 3.55pm on Sunday, April 9, police were called to reports of a woman found near the tracks close to Ashton Cricket Club.

Sadly the woman, later identified as Colette Fazakerley, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Colette was reported missing on Saturday, April 8, but officers are now working to piece together her last known movements.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Oliver Jemson said: “We need help to establish what Colette was doing in the hours after she was last seen – at around 8.10pm on Friday, April 7 outside Bar 15 in George Street, Ashton, and when her body was found on Sunday, April 9.

“We’re analysing Ashton town centre CCTV, but if you have dashcam footage you might think is useful, or a personal video doorbell, please let us know.

“While we are not treating her death as suspicious, is important to her family to know what happened in the hours leading up to her death and so I urge anyone who saw Colette to get in touch as soon as they can.”

Colette was last seen wearing a grey and black cardigan, black corduroy dress, grey tights and black boots.

She was 5ft 2ins tall.
