£50k in cash and a Rolex watch seized during Operation Falcon swoop

Greater Manchester Police's Operation Falcon team swooped into action yesterday (Wednesday), efforts that resulted in two men being arrested and £50,000 in cash being seized.

At 3:25pm yesterday, officers from GMP’s Economic Crime Unit and Money Laundering Team detained two males at Manchester Piccadilly train station in the city centre.

The two men were searched and found in possession of £50,000 in cash and a Rolex watch.

Both men (aged 23 and 21) were arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property and remain in custody for further questioning.

Detective Inspector James Coles, Head of GMP’s Money Laundering Team, said: “We are extremely pleased with the outcome of the ongoing proactive operation called Operation Falcon.

"This operation is GMP’s response to tackling cash-based money laundering and organised crime in Greater Manchester.

“These arrests are two of the many successes of Operation Falcon and the teams who support it.

"Of course, our work does not stop here and we will continue to tackle organised crime and we will remove these individuals from our communities.
