Police step up investigation as elderly man remains in hospital following Sheepfoot Lane traffic collision

Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit have appealed for information following a road traffic collision on Sheepfoot Lane in Royton earlier this week.

At around 8:10am on Monday (April 3), a Hyundai i10 car was driving east along Sheepfoot Lane, approaching the junction with Oldham Road.

At the same time the pedestrian, who was making use of a walking frame, began to cross Sheepfoot Lane and the vehicle collided with the pedestrian.

Emergency services were called to the scene and a man in his 80s was taken to hospital. He is still in hospital receiving treatment.

The driver remained at scene and assisted officers with enquiries.

No arrests have been made.

GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Officers are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
