Brass band's salute for timely charity boost

Date published: 04 April 2023

When Friezland Brass Band needed to update their music stand banners, they were very grateful to receive a generous donation from the East Lancashire Masonic Charity.

The money enabled the band to purchase a new set of stand banners to complement the other Friezland band logos.

The East Lancs Masonic Charity have been raising money for good causes since the 1800s, and the Friezland musicians are thankful they chose to help a local band in these difficult economic times.

The band continue to progress well and have been very fortunate to welcome back the popular Max Stannard as MD recently.

He brings a progressive outlook to the music being played, combining popular, well known tunes with traditional brass band pieces.

This friendly, sociable band welcome any new players on Thursday evenings at Uppermill Conservative Club, between 7.30pm to 9.30pm, and then for social time in the bar afterwards.

The band have a variety of concerts, weddings, party bookings throughout the year, and the occasional contest.

The band has recovered well from the Covid break, but has vacancies on cornet, solo horn and solo trombone.
