Two men sought as burglary investigation continues

Date published: 17 February 2023

Police are continuing to investigate the burglary of a property on Walsingham Avenue in nearby Alkrington.

The burglary is believed to have taken place on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at around 8.30pm.

Thankfully, no items were stolen, but it is believed that four men entered and searched the entire property looking for valuables.

After a number of enquiries, detectives are now in a position to appeal to the public for additional information and want to speak to two men (pictured above) who they believe may be able to help with their investigation.

Inspector Cooke, for Rochdale Neighbourhood Task Force, said: “We’ve conducted a number of enquiries around this burglary and although no arrests have been made, we are conducting a full investigation to establish the circumstances.

"We understand that the images are not of the best quality, but we are looking to speak to the two men pictured who may be able to assist us with our investigation.

“We’re now appealing to members of the community if they have any further detail they can share that may help our ongoing investigation.

“This can be done by ringing the Rochdale CID directly on 0161 856 4620 or 101 quoting incident 2870 22/01/2023, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

To help police to help you, please follow GMP's top tips in order to keep yourself safe and protect your home from burglaries:

- Burglars love the dark. Deter them by setting an alarm, using light timers and locking doors and windows. Keep an eye on your neighbourhood and report anything suspicious.

- Make sure the only thing you’re letting through your open window is fresh air. - Close them when you leave the room to deter thieves.

- You can add extra security to doors using additional security measures such as patio door locks which can be fitted over door handles or bolted down behind a sliding door.

- Homes left in darkness can signify no one is at home. A few simple steps can deter thieves. Use a TV simulator, leave a radio tuned into a talk station on, and use light timers to turn lamps on as it goes dark.
