This year the event will welcome a light sabre group
The committed organisers of the legendary Saddleworth Show and Wellifest are expecting another récord year at this year's sparkling events.
Last year, the events, organised by the Rotary Clubs of Saddleworth and Oldham Metro, raised more than £28,000.
And speaking on behalf of their committee, co-chairs Frank Bolger and Clint Elliott, said: “We are confident 2023 will be the biggest and best events we have ever staged.
“Many more local good causes and charities will benefit once again from the hard work.
“The funds raised in 2022 helped hundreds of families struggling in these difficult times, and hopefully 2023 will allow this support to continue and even increase in the year.”
They revealed ticket sales for Wellifest, the community, family music event to be held on Saturday, June 24, have already achieved more than 40 per cent of the increased total sales.
The line-up promises DJ sets from Mike Sweeney of BBC Radio Manchester fame and headline acts, Manchester Ska Foundation and Foo FighterZ, and other popular bands who will be rocking from 12.30pm to 9.30pm.
There will be increased bar capacity and several new food outlets, as well as traditional ones.
The fairground is welcomed back for both days and face painters and a fun photo booth will keep children happy while parents enjoy the music.
And the organisers have great plans for the Saddleworth Show on Sunday, June 25.
All the favourites will feature again, including Country Corner, an extended dog show to include Retrieval, Agility and Rallying, a Punch and Judy, Kids, Magic Shows and Pony Rides.
This year the event welcomes a light sabre group who will give anyone of any age training in light sabre fighting as well as professional demonstrations - so go and “let the force awaken within you”.
A new attraction this year will be a Giant LaserMaze, again fun no matter your age.
And teenagers, who will have auditioned with Mahdlo Youth Centre and Oldham Music Centre, will be performing on stage throughout the day.
The winners at the auditions will also perform at Wellifest.
The event will also have a second arena this year, featuring demonstrations from several local groups from dance workshops to karate and yoga to aerial dance.
Dont miss out on the biggest fun weekend in the area.
