A62 Huddersfield Road, near Floating Light, is one of the roads which will get a sign.
A series of key warning signs are to be activated on some of Saddleworth’s busiest roads.
Councillor Luke Lancaster revealed the sites for Vehicle Activted Signs (VAS) in Saddleworth north ward in a social media note which was welcomed by locals.
He said: “I’ve been badgering OMBC Highways for some time but there has now been a promising long overdue development.
“There are to be replacements of several existing Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS) across the Saddleworth North ward.
“The live aspect does seem to have greater effect on speeding motorists, so hopefully these replacements will see the VAS work more consistently and do their job.”
These local replacements are:
- A62 Oldham Road, near Platting Road-Doctor Lane junction
- A62 Oldham Road, near Albion Farm
- A62 Huddersfield Road, near Floating Light
- A62 Huddersfield Road / Field Road
- Ripponden Road, Denshaw
- Oldham Road, Denshaw
Cllr Lancaster added: “The first four listed will be direct replacements in the same locations, however two Denshaw VAS may be repositioned for better access to power sources.”
One resident living near the A62 said: “This road us a racetrack so anything to warn drivers of their speed is a real asset.
"Hopefully the signs will remind drivers to ease up.”
