NatWest helps Oldham families take a fresh look at their finances.

Families in Oldham have been learning about managing finances in the year ahead and how they can teach their children to be confident with money and budgeting.

Children enjoyed colouring in fun at the NatWest branch on Yorkshire Street, while their parents found out about how they can teach their young ones money confidence with the help of NatWest Rooster Money, which aims to help parents, carers and children have positive conversations about money.

Nella Piroskova, age seven, and Michaela Minarikova, age three, took part in the activity, which is running across the North West, taking home a tote bag and colouring pencils as a reward for their efforts.

Carol Wilkinson, manager at NatWest’s Oldham branch, said: “It’s been fantastic to welcome families into the store to learn more about managing their money at a time when, even without the cost-of-living crisis, people can often feel overwhelmed by money matters or be planning to start the new year with a fresh look at their finances.

“While the children have been busy impressing us with their colouring in skills, parents have been finding out more about NatWest Rooster Money and how the app and prepaid debit card can support families to build their children’s money confidence and help them thrive.

"It’s been great for the branch team too as it’s really rewarding to know we’re teaching valuable life skills, with a bit of creativity and fun along the way.”

The NatWest Rooster Money app, aimed at children aged three and up and their families, helps build money-confidence and develop valuable life skills around earning, saving and spending, so children and young people can take early steps to prepare them for financial independence.

The Rooster Card, a prepaid debit card for children aged six to 17, allows parents to set up restrictions on how and where the card can be used, with parents receiving real-time notifications on their children’s spending.
