Oldham Tuneless Choir invites you to sing badly in 2023.

Members of Oldham's Tuneless Choir
Oldham Tuneless Choir will open its doors free to the public, on Wednesday 11th January, as they encourage everyone to make their New Year’s resolution to sing, whatever their ability.
The choir is open to those who “can’t carry a tune in a bucket”.
Members sing well known songs from across the decades and also have themed costume sessions.
The evening is a chance for curious bad singers, to see what it’s like to join other tone deaf music enthusiasts.
Choir leader Jess Leavy will begin the session with fun warm ups then lead everyone through a playlist of Tuneless Classics such as ‘Build me up buttercup’ and ‘I will survive’.
All songs on the night will be themed towards mental health to tie in with Oldham Library’s health month.
Group singing is proven to be good for your health and releases endorphins - the ‘happy hormone’.
Choir manager Gemma Cunliffe said: “I get so many enquiries from people who are curious about the choir but are not sure if it is for them, or worry they sing too badly.
"This is a perfect opportunity to come along and see without any pressure to participate”.
Over the past few years, Tuneless Choirs have sprung up all over the country, with singers of all ages and abilities testing out their vocal chords with a selection of pop hits in fun and friendly surroundings.
The choirs welcome those who love to sing but lack the ability, confidence or practice to sing in tune.
Oldham Tuneless Choir has proved to be very popular and along with their regular sessions members have taken part in performances in the local community and even sang for diners at The Corn Exchange in Manchester.
People aren’t divided into parts, so everyone sings the lead vocals at whatever pitch they can manage.
Oldham Tuneless Choir meets every other Wednesday, and the first meeting of 2023 will be at 7.15pm on Wednesday 11th January.
The choir meets in the Performance Space at Oldham Library, Greaves Street, Oldham with doors opening at 7pm.
